Music and Art started early in Glen’s life.
I remember strumming an old guitar with 2 strings on it when I was 12 or so, and that was what got me into music. I took up the trumpet and played in the school bands, I was trained in theory and took private lessons.
One of the first albums I bought was Deep Purple – Machine Head. I was awe-struck by the sound of the bass guitar. I knew I wanted to play bass.
Later in High School I bought my first bass (for $50 at Wiener’s Pawn Shop).
My first band was Sterling, and it included my brother on drums. I finally bought the Rickenbacker bass I always wanted after working all summer and saving my money.
I jammed and played with lots of people over the next few years, and bought and sold a lot of equipment. I also starting recording our jams and performances. My Boom Box had a decent condenser mic in it! And cassettes were cheap!
Later on I spent 14 years involved in music in the church. I sang, played guitar and bass, and trained others and recorded. Leading groups as small as 3 to as many as 5 thousand. It was a good place to develop leadership, sensitivity and musicality.
I have evolved as a musician in many ways; appreciating and playing all types of music. I am able to sit in with just about anybody – and I enjoy doing so.
I play rock, blues, folk and jazz, just to name a few. And Jaco is my hero – the World Greatest Bass Player!
I started Gone Electric Inc. in 2006, when I was working with John Cody. He has worked with Tom Cockhrane, Bonnie Rait, Holly Cole, Larry Klien and most recently, Sharon Stone. We worked with her on some of her lyrics and wrote music to go with it. As well we were recording JC’s own new material. Our Engineer / Producer was Dan Marnien. He was taught by Quincy Jones, and has worked with almost everybody (from Joni Mitchell to Steely Dan to Gun N Roses).
I now have a studio in my home in Ottawa, Canada.
I also partner with Sean Sisk who is a gifted and reputable photographer, video director, promoter and generally amazing guy.
The vibe is chilled and home-like, so you can be yourself, and feel safe.
Come to the comfort of a home studio environment and find the safety to release your creative juices. We will work together to create what you envision for your music without compromise. Or I can travel to your gig and record your adventure live.
